Ohne weiteren Kommentar nur zur Dokumentation, damit klar ist, wer was wann gesagt hat! Zitat eines Experten vom 5.11.2010 On the Dublin end we have recently spoken to an Engineer who tells us he hopes to remove the electricity cable which stops entry to the Liffey by this years end.( I think, I have told you this was at 1.4 meter clearance but I have now measured again and it is 1.25m). The bridge ( 2.2/2.4m clearance) may be increased to 3 meter clearance in 2 years but this is not so important - all of our former boats could clear this present height.
IWAI in Dublin have commissioned a plaque for the first 100 boats to complete the "Trianglular Ring" ( Royal-Shannon-Grand Canal) and we expect a serious contest next Spring for boats to earn this award. The route was last completed by the "Hark" in 1955 and the first plaque will be awarded to her but the rest are open to those brave enough to tackle the journey ( 89 locks and 350km). I estimate it will take about 2 or 3 weeks ( fast pace or more leisurely). Zitat Ende.
