one good place to buy cheap things in Taipei is shamen chie near kuting or Guting Mrt station green line to Hsintien or Xin Tien. There are hundreds of second hand stores and you can buy anything from second hand furniture to old computers televisions refrigerator there are some antiquities too. The only problem might be the customs office at the airport need to check the law first before buying.
One tip always negotiate the price and don't cross the street.  Second hand refrigerators often times are leaking gas. They refill the gas and then it's good for three month so becareful not to get ripped off.

I'd be very grateful if you could provide an address for a second hand clothes shop you know which deals in non-designer clothes. Thank you.
