Die dreijährige Valeria aus der Ukraine leidet an einem Tumor im Auge, der unbehandelt tödlich sein wird. Die KAB Ellar, die mit ihren Eltern über den Chor «Oreya» Kontakt hat, startet jetzt eine Spendenaktion für das Mädchen.

Seit Jahren ist der Chor «Oreya» ein gerne gesehener Gast in der Region. Die Tourneen der Sängerensembles aus der ukrainischen Stadt Schytomyr waren vom Publikum umjubelt und zahlreiche Freundschaften haben sich
gebildet, sowohl zwischen dem Chor und Vereinen aus dem Limburger Land als auch zwischen den Menschen aus der Ukraine und ihren Gastgebern.

Nun brauchen zwei Mitglieder des Ensembles dringend Hilfe. Valeria, die dreijährige Tochter des Sänger-Ehepaares Olena Yegorova und Andrej Gritsevych, ist an einem Retinoblastom, einem lebensbedrohlichen Tumor
am Auge, erkrankt. Eine erste Chemotherapie in der Ukraine war erfolglos und eine weitere Behandlung ist dort nicht möglich. Deshalb befinden sich Mutter und Tochter seit Montag in der Universitäts-Augenklinik in Essen.
Derzeit läuft dort die Untersuchung. Die Kosten einer Behandlung, die mindestens drei Monate laufen wird, lassen sich jetzt noch nicht abschließend bestimmen, die Klinik geht aber von Erfahrungswerten um 4000 Euro aus. «Dazu kommen die Nachbehandlung, die Unterbringung der Mutter sowie weitere Zusatzkosten. Wir rechnen am Ende mit einem
fünfstelligen Betrag», sagt Franz-Josef Arthen. Er kennt die «Oreya»-Sänger und auch die Eltern der kranken Valeria persönlich.

Für die KAB «St. Josef» Ellar, deren Zweiter Vorsitzender er ist, hat er die Koordination einer Spendenaktion übernommen. Das gesammelte Geld soll Valeria und ihrer Familie dabei helfen, die Behandlung des Augentumors zu bezahlen. «Unbehandelt ist ein Retinoblastom absolut tödlich. Mit modernen Behandlungsmethoden ist zu 95 Prozent eine
Heilung möglich. Wenn es sehr gut geht, kann sogar das Auge gerettet werden», berichtet Arthen davon, was er sich über die Erkrankung
angelesen hat. Der Vorstand der KAB «St. Josef» hat bereits beschlossen, tausend Euro als ersten Grundstock zu spenden. Auch erste Einzelspender haben sich bereits gemeldet.

Der 6. Dezember ist als Termin für ein Benfizkonzert angepeilt. «Wir sind noch am Anfang der Vorbereitungen, aber wenn Chöre oder Musikgruppen sich beteiligen wollen, wären wir dafür sehr dankbar», sagt Franz-Josef Arthen. Auch Benefizaktionen anderer Vereine oder Gruppen sowie private
Spenden sind willkommen. Franz-Josef Arthen würde es freuen, wenn sich
der Erfolg der Aktion «Sänger helfen Sänger» aus dem Jahr 1997 wiederholen ließe. Damals hatten zahlreiche Chöre aus der Region Oleg

Habe mit den Leuten aus Ellar telefoniert:
Valerya ist gestern operiert worden mit Enukleation von einem Auge. Wenn alles gut läuft, dann darf sie mit ihrer Mutter (die sie ja begleitet und kostenpflichtig in der direkten Nähe der Essener Klinik wohnt) schon in den kommenden Tagen zur Gastfamilie hier nach Ellar.
Dann heißt es noch mit den Behörden sich auseinandersetzen wegen Aufenthaltserlaubnis und so. Denn die Behandlung ist dann noch nicht abgeschlossen und wird voraussichtlich 4 Monate dauern.

Operation geglückt, Valeria gerettet

SCHNELLE TUMOR-BEHANDLUNG WURDE DURCH SPENDENAKTION MÖGLICH

Die Ellarer Freunde organisierten eine Spendenaktion und die Augenklinik in Essen ermöglichte einen schnellen Behandlungsbeginn. Gleich am ersten Tag nach der Ankunft in Deutschland wurde das Mädchen untersucht, einen Tag später ein Treffen mit Ärzten vereinbart und einen weiteren Tag später das vom Krebs befallene Auge entfernt. Damit wurde das Leben des Mädchens gerettet. «Zwei Wochen später wäre die kleine Valeria gestorben», gibt Franz-Josef Arthen von der KAB Ellar die Auskunft der Ärzte wieder.
Doch der Leidensweg des Mädchens ist damit noch nicht beendet. Am Montag wird bei einem Augenprotetiker ein «Glasauge» eingefügt. Bei der Entfernung des kranken Auges wurde darauf geachtet, dass noch vorhandene, gesunde Muskeln erhalten bleiben. Damit wird das künstliche Auge wie ein normales Auge zu bewegen sein. Und auch die Augenlider sind intakt. In den kommenden zwei Jahren wird Valeria alle drei Monate zur Nachuntersuchung in die Essener Klinik müssen, danach jährlich bis zu ihrem 18. Lebensjahr, da nicht ausgeschlossen ist, dass das gesunde Auge auch betroffen ist. Für diese Nachuntersuchungen und die damit verbundenen Reisen bittet die KAB Ellar um Spenden. Hallo, soeben habe ich beim Surfen im Netz diese Seite mit dem Artkel über Valeriya entdeckt.
Nun möchte ich mich selbst dazu äußern, da ich in den Artikeln als Ansprechpartner genannt wurde.
Valeriya ist zur Zeit wieder in Essen in der Klinik zur 1. Nachsorge-Untersuchung und morgen dann wird ihr in Köln die nächste Prothese angepasst werden.
Wie schon in dem vorherigen Eintrag wird das noch ein langer und teurer Weg für das Mädchen und seine Familie werden.
Zwei Jahre lang alle drei Monate und dann bis zum 18 lebensjahr einmal jährlich Nachsorge in der Essener Klinik und bis zum 7. Lebensjahr mindestens alle 3 Monate und danach lebenslang einmal jährlich eine neue Prothese. Stückpreis zur zeit 400 Euro.
Wir können froh und dankbar sein, dass es nun auch Billigflüge von Deutschland nach der Ukraine gibt. Das ist sehr hilfreich.
So kann man sehen, dass noch viel Geld nötig sein wird.
