Asrun Dream

Note: The second song from Gackt's amazing Mars album. Strangest thing: After getting a rather interesting Malice Mizer book for a friend, I discovered the meaning of Asrun Dream. Gackt's favorite manga is Banana Fish by Yoshida Akimi-sensei for Flower Comics. From what I can tell it's about Eiji and Ash, short for Asrun (Aslan according to the official fan book), a gang member in New York. In his interview with Yoshida-sensei from the Malice Mizer book, Gackt says that Asrun Dream is an older song of his, inspired by Banana Fish. He said that when he wrote it, he imagined Eiji asleep in bed while Ash looks out the window to the night sky. According Musouka-san, a helpful Banana Fish fan, this song really captures the character's personality in the song, and is based upon the fact that Eiji is NOT a gang member, but instead an innocent who's caught up in things. It's not at all what I expected this song to be about, but it's very beautiful if you can imagine this while listening to this.
