Former Central Intelligence Director Porter Goss is taking an unusual swing through the revolving door: He recently registered to lobby for the government of Turkey, according to forms filed with the Justice Department.

Goss registered through his new employer, Dickstein Shapiro, which has a longstanding relationship with the Turkish government.

The disclosure shows Goss will advise Turkey on a variety of issues, including counterterrorism efforts; lobby members of Congress on “issues of importance to Turkey”; and notify Turkey of actions in Congress or the Executive Branch.

Those who honor the vision of the founder of the modern Turkish Republic view the current events in Turkey with grave concern.

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said “Authority, without any condition and reservation, belongs to the nation.” This is written in the chamber of the Turkish Parliament. His populist vision held that the people of the nation themselves are the sovereign. His democratic vision for his people is again under threat.

Results of the election of June 7th 2015, have led to commentary in the western media that is predominantly hopeful and optimistic – proclaiming the election a victory for Turkish democracy. However, such spin fails to provide proper historical context and skepticism, and fails to meet the reality check. Informed Turks know better.

Turkey Peace Assembly (TBM) held a press conference in Cezayir Assembly Hall in order to call upon AKP to abandon its war concept.

TBM Spokesperson Hakan Tahmaz, TBM Advisory Board members, Armenian intellectual Tatyos Bebek, Kurdish intellectual Turan Sarıtumur, former SHP Minister of Labor and Social Security Ziya Halis, lawyer Nurcan Kaya, former SES Director Sevgi İnce and journalist Murat Çelikkan spoke during the press conference. TBM Advisory Board member Tatyos Bebek made the opening speech of the conference and said that a war began in times of peace where nobody had died over the past two years, and the current situation resembled the period of 1990s.

Turkey's nationalist party would back AKP minority govt in return for snap poll

........... A majority of Turks see Erdogan as the biggest obstacle to a coalition deal while almost two thirds see recent military action as part of an attempt to achieve different results at an early election, a poll by research company Gezici showed on Tuesday.

The survey showed 56.8 percent of those asked saw Erdogan as the main block in coalition negotiations. A quarter blamed the opposition for the lack of progress, while less than 20 percent saw Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as responsible.

If the June 7 vote were to be re-run this Sunday, little would change, the poll suggested. The AKP would still be unable to govern alone while the pro-Kurdish HDP, whose strong performance cost the AKP its majority, would stay in parliament.

The poll of 4,860 people, taken on July 25-26, put the AKP on 41.9 percent, up slightly from 40.9 percent in June. The main opposition CHP, which has been in coalition talks with the AKP, saw its support rise just over a percentage point to 26.3.

The MHP lost one percent to 15.3 percent, while the pro-Kurdish HDP slipped to 12.3 percent from 13.1.

Turkish officials tipped off al-Nusra Front about the entry of US-trained fighters into Syria shortly before they were kidnapped, according to Syrian rebel sources.

Fighters from the Division 30 Brigade of 54 “moderate” US-trained rebels told McClatchy on Tuesday that Turkish intelligence had informed the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front of the brigade’s entrance into Syria, enabling al-Nusra to kidnap them.

“Only the Americans and the Turks knew” about the plans, said one Division 30 officer. “We have sources who tell us the Turks warned Nusra that they would be targeted by this group.”

Poll shows Turkey's AK Party short of votes needed to form government alone

Turkey's ruling AK Party is seen falling short of the votes needed to form a single-party government in a snap election on Nov. 1 with 41.7 percent of votes, up from 40.9 percent in the June election, pollster Metropoll found in its latest survey.

The AKP lost its majority in a June 7 election for the first time since coming to power in 2002 and its leader, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was appointed on Tuesday to form a temporary power-sharing cabinet after coalition talks collapsed.

According to the Metropoll survey, backing for the secular main opposition CHP was at 25.5 percent, the nationalist MHP at 15.7 percent and the pro-Kurdish HDP at 14.7 percent - a rise in its support from 13.1 percent in June

New PostErstellt: 04.11.15, 13:28  Betreff: Turkey’s Election Results Stink of Fraud  drucken  weiterempfehlen

Like other observers of Turkish politics, I was stunned on November 1 when the ruling Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, or AKP) was reported to have increased its share of the national vote since the last round of elections in June 2015 by 9 percent and its share of parliamentary seats by 11 percent. The polls had consistently shown the four major parties winning about the same number of seats as in June. This made intuitive sense; they represent mutually hostile outlooks (Islamist, leftist, Kurdish, nationalist), making substantial movement between them in under five months highly unlikely.

Erdogan Gang Heist - Election Fraud in Turkey Nov 1

The Erdoan gang, also known as the AK Party (AKP), stole the snap elections held in Turkey on Sunday, November 1. (Image: thierry ehrmann)

This was a make-or-break election for Turkish President Recep Erdoan. Any outcome other than single party rule by the AKP threatened Erdan with prosecution for well-documented financial crimes and support for terrorists in Syria. Against the record of recent elections and against public opinion polling results, AKP increased it vote share over the June elections just enough to assure an absolute majority in parliament. The would-be Sultan was saved, at least for now.

The implications for Turkey are profound. The lessons learned about the decline of the rulers and elites in Europe and the United States are of great interest as well.

To believe that Erdoan's AKP won the election, you need to believe the following.

AKP party support increased 16% above the public opinion poll predictions and 20% over the June general election total.

From June 7 through the last polls before the November elections, AKP public polling showed the AKP at a around 42% of the electorate. Nothing material happened in the last two weeks of the campaign to cause a rallying to AKP, yet the party support increased 16% above the poll predictions and 20% over the June general election total.

Turkey's media raids threaten to silence serious dissent

On 28 October, three days before Turkey's general election, riot police broke into the headquarters building of two of the country's major newspapers.

Using tear gas and water canons to break through a line of protesters – including journalists from the newspapers, who had assembled to try to resist the raid – armed police stormed the Koza İpek building in Istanbul's Sisli neighbourhood, took over the newsrooms of the opposition dailies Millet and Bugun, and cut the live broadcasts of Bugun TV, Kanalturk TV, and Kanalturk radio, which were transmitting from the same building.

Speaking to viewers moments before the police entered the studio and pulled the plug, editor in chief of Bugun TV Tarık Toros described what he thought was happening.

"This is an operation to silence all the dissident voices that the ruling party does not like, including media outlets, opposition parties and businessmen,” Toros said on air, referring President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP). “This is true for anyone who does not obey."

New PostErstellt: 27.11.15, 16:06  Betreff: Turkey charges journalists with spying over Syria weapons story  drucken  weiterempfehlen

A court in Istanbul charged two journalists from the Cumhuriyet newspaper with spying after the paper had alleged that Turkey's intelligence agency had sent arms to rebels in Syria, Turkish media reported.

Editor-in-chief Can Dundar and Erdem Gul, the paper's Ankara bureau chief, have been indicted of spying and "divulging state secrets", the reports said. Both men were placed in pre-trial detention.

According to Cumhuriyet, Turkish security forces in January 2014 intercepted a convoy of trucks near the Syrian border. The newspaper published a video showing what boxes containing what the newspaper described as weapons and ammunition being sent to rebels fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

It linked the seized trucks to the Turkish National Intelligence Organisation (MIT).

The revelations, published in May, caused a political storm in Turkey ahead of the June elections, with an enraged President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowing Dundar would pay a "heavy price".

Meet The Man Who Funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, The Son Of Turkey's President

....Necmettin Bilal Erdogan, commonly known as Bilal Erdogan (born 23 April 1980) is the third child of Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, the current President of Turkey.

After graduating from Kartal Imam Hatip High School in 1999, Bilal Erdogan moved to the US for undergraduate education. He also earned a Masters Degree in John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2004. After graduation, he served in the World Bank as intern for a while. He returned Turkey in 2006 and started to his business life. Bilal Erdogan is one of the three equal shareholders of "BMZ Group Denizcilik ", a marine transportation corporation.

Here is a recent picture of Bilal, shown in a photo from a Turkish 2014 article, which "asked why his ships are now in Syria":

In the next few days, we will present a full breakdown of Bilal's various business ventures, starting with his BMZ Group which is the name implicated most often in the smuggling of illegal Iraqi and Islamic State through to the western supply chain, but for now here is a brief, if very disturbing snapshot, of both father and son Erdogan by F. William Engdahl, one which should make everyone ask whether the son of Turkey's president (and thus, the father) is the silent mastermind who has been responsible for converting millions of barrels of Syrian Oil into hundreds of millions of dollars of Islamic State revenue.

Syria: The Turkish Russian Apology Contest

Erdogan did not take the exit ramp Putin offered. So who will win this contest?

U.S. Air Force General (ret) Charles J. Dunlap assesses that Russia wins the legal case. The Turkish shoot down of the Russian bomber was plainly illegal under international law as there was no threat to Turkey from the Russian plane. Even Turkey itself does not allege that the Russian bomber intended to attack that country. There was no self-defense situation that would allow such behavior.

Joe Biden, the US Vice President, said on Saturday that Washington recognised the "existential threat" to Turkey posed by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and compared it to the Islamic State (IS) group in comments supportive of Turkey's recent crackdown on suspected Kurdish militants and their supporters.

Speaking alongside Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish prime minister, at a press conference in Istanbul, Biden said that the PKK, which has waged a decades-long separatist struggle mostly in Turkey's Kurdish-majority southeast, was a "a terror group plain and simple".

IS was "not the only existential threat to the people of Turkey, the PKK is equally a threat and we are aware of that," Biden told reporters.

"We do agree with you that in terms of their actions Daesh [IS], PKK and al-Nusra [al-Qaeda's Syria affiliate] ... are simply terrorist groups," said Biden.

Turkey’s difficulties with Syrian Kurds complicate strategy against Islamic State

Turkey and the United States continued Saturday to disagree about the status of Kurdish forces who have become a key part of the U.S. strategy to defeat the Islamic State in Syria.

In statements after a two-hour meeting here, Vice President Biden and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu praised the sometimes rocky U.S.-Turkish alliance. Calling Turkey a “strategic partner,” Biden said the relationship is “enduring, it’s rooted in history, it’s in the hearts of our people.”

But in the stew of overlapping conflicts, regional rivalries and competing interests in the civil war in Syria, and the expansion of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, U.S.-Turkey ties have often been strained. Biden’s visit here was intended to shore them up, officials traveling with him said, and to add some high-level impetus to resolving a range of issues.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan faced noisy protests on Thursday as he confronted critics in Washington, defending his media crackdown and accusing the West of turning a blind eye to Kurdish violence.
