those whispered words of yours
flowing into my soul
awakening dry riverbeds –

bring back to life the longing of
the heart to rest in comfort
to let go of the pain –

my broken back hurts
the slaughtered wings try to flap again
you have the soft strength of faith
in your heart – although sometimes
sorrow seems to overwhelm you –

I can feel the love that keeps you alive
these small ripples of the unexpressable -
of that which can not be said with words

you have that ability, this smoothness -
you will not give up – I know that

go on searching for this small trail
that leads to a balance after all

you will see all by yourself –
I have seen it, felt it in your words

I live in faith - that we
can choose who we want to be
and may grow into that identity,
even slowly...
we can become ourselves
