Lang ist es her als ich meinen letzten Beitrag geschrieben habe und wollte mal wieder ein Update und ein paar neue Erkenntisse geben.
Sebastian ist nun seit Anfang Juli 09 mit seiner Chemotherapie fertig.
Alles gut ueberstanden!
Man hatte im April 09 bei der letzten Kernspint eine leichte Erhoehung am Nerv des entfernten Auges gefunden. Das machte mich und meine Frau natuerlich wahnsinnig nervoes da die Aerzte hier in Dallas nicht auschliessen wollten das da was waechst. Man vermutete aber eine heilende Narbe. Man hat uns mitgeteilt das Sebastian's Kernspintergebnisse auf einer Aerztekonferenz diskutiert wurde.
Wir sind im August fuer 3 1/2 Wochen geschaeftlich und privat nach Deutschland geflogen um herauszufinden wo Sebastian bei einer moeglichen Wiederkehr nach Deutschland gut aufgehoeben waere. Wie ich hier ja schon mehrmals im Forum gelesen habe, sprechen eine Menge von der Uniklinik in Essen. Da wir aber wieder in die suedliche Muenchner Gegend ziehen wuerden haben wir Sebastian's alten Kinderarzt besucht.
Er hat sich in der Haunschen Kinderklinik in Muechnen erkundigt, diese wuerden wegen der fehlenden Erfahrung mit Retinoblastom uns eine Inspektion in Essen mit Nachsorge in Muenchen raten.
Klingt ja nicht besonders gut.
Sebastian hatte im Oktober 09 wieder eine Kernspint bei der nun gruenes Licht gegeben wurde, alles OK, keinerlei Erhoehungen mehr zu sehen.
Die Untersuchungen werden auf 6 Monate erweitert und der Port kann rausoperiert werden. Wir sind sehr froh, hoffen und beten das es so bleibt. Der kleine Kerl hatte ja eine Menge mitgemacht.
Unser zweiter Sohn ist nun 7 Monate alt und hat bereits seine 3 Augenuntersuchung hinter sich, auch alles OK soweit. Der Gentest, der von der Uniklinik in Philadelphia durchgefuehrt wurde, hatte ja bereits ergeben das eine Vererbung ausgeschlossen ist. Wie die Aerzte hier aber sagen: sicher ist sicher.
Wir nehmen auch an einer Retinoblastom Studie an der selben Klinik teil.
Wir haben Speichelproben abgegeben und meine Frau und ich je ein 1 stuendiges Telefoninterview gemacht. Man wird uns in 3 1/2 Jahren das Ergebnis der Studie mitteilen. Man will 5 Jahre und insgesamt 1500 Retinofaelle studieren. Wir wurden ueber unser Leben gefragt, wie wir gelebt haben, wo wir gelebt haben etc.
Hoffe ich konnte dem ein oder anderen von euch ein paar interessante von Dinge "von ueber dem grossen Teich" mitteilen.
Ich persoenlich finde es immer sehr interessant hier im Forum zu lesen.

Hallo zusammen,
Wir sind nach drei Jahren USA nun wieder zurück in Deutschland.
Wir wurden nach Essen überwiesen. Sebastian muss nur noch alles halbe Jahr zur Nachuntersuchung.
Ich konnte aus beruflichen Gründen leider auf den ersten Termin Anfang April nicht mitkommen. Meine Frau ist also mit meinen zwei Jungs und deren Freundin gefahren. War echt ein Horror verglichen mit den USA.
Termin für die Augenuntersuchung wurde erst von 9:30 auf 11:30 und dann auf 13:30 verschoben. Und mein Kind musste die ganze Zeit nüchtern auf dem Gang sitzen da kein Zimmer frei war. Meine Frau erzählte mir, das der Aufwachraum wegen Überfüllung auch auf den Gang verlegt wurde. Übergebende Kinder etc. Als meine Frau eine Krankenschwester auf diese Umstände aufmerksam machen wollte sagte diese: Sie können sich ja beschweren gehen.
Später beim Gespräch mit dem Arzt meinte dieser das dies noch nie passiert ist...kann man das glauben? Ich kann's mir nicht vorstellen.
Wir wohnen Nähe Rosenheim. Kennt jemand eine gute Klinik im Süddeutschen Raum? Nach Essen wollen wir nur ungern ein weiteres Mal.
