Teaching English in Taiwan more and more slipped into the hands of some corrupted rip-offs.

We started this ESL website and forum to help teachers getting around the agencies and work privately. However, paying all this advertising pointing teachers to our website and asking them to make themselves available seems to be ignored almost completely.

Now just having a little success with the traffic we need to surrender and ask you to register first otherwise they gone spam us to death.

Hey everybody! Listen! Here are many schools, buxibans, kindergartens, and privates looking for foreign and local English teachers. They are calling us every day and ask for teachers male and female.

We are not one of those agencies and therefore do not do this kind of service like collecting and passing phone numbers.

If you are looking for some privates or a well-paid job in Taiwan without someone on your back, then give it a chance and place your resume. Either here into the forum or into taiwan-taipei.com’s classified ads section. Better is both.

You don’t have to display your exact data! We recommend you to change it enough to be non-traceable but close to the truth so not to disappoint someone.

Clarify everything with the appropriate documents when you meet for an interview face to face.

Open a throw a way Email account!

Some people spam our email service on taiwan-taipei.com as well. We apologize for the inconvenience. There might be 7 out of 10 spam mails, but the html is disabled which makes it save for you to get through it and delete the once you do not need.

Don’t work for two parties! Work for your students and yourself.

Welcome to Taiwan and good luck!

Webmaster

If you stay more than 3month in Taiwan and you want to drive a car or motorcycle, you'll need a Taiwan driver's license. You can use your international license only for a certain time.
Here is the link to the Taipei government page with more information on how to obtain a scooter or driver's license.
driver's license
Here you can do an online practice for the exam online test

Foreign English teachers in Taiwan need to get a health examination in order to apply the working permit, a police record from your country, and your degree. All these papers have to be submitted inside a certain time frame. You police statement and your health certificate cannot be older then a certain time at the time you apply the work permit.

You have to be a holder of a passport from an English speaking country and you’ll need at least the so called bachelor degree in any subject.

Hi!

Taipei government has come up with an official site for foreigners where you can get first hand information on the regulations here.

Maybe I have overlooked it before, but I think its quite new.

So if you want to find more about visa/passport, visa applications, health, Insurance, work, taxes, rental, traffic, education, residence/stay, etc. Here is the link information for foreigners

Are there any jobs for teachers above the age of 50?

I am planing to stay, but am not sure how difficult it's gone be finding work here.

Any suggestions where to apply! And how much money should I ask for?

Will kindergardens still hire me?

Hi!

My friend and I are coming to Taiwan in September. We are planing to stay for a year or longer. What are the more beautiful places for teaching English in Taiwan? Any suggestions how to find a job near the beach or in some small village? Should we register with an agent or can we find work once we're in Taiwan.

Thanks for any help!

Employing foreign teachers in Kindergartens will be fully banned

The ministry of interiors has recently sent a letter to the Council of Labor Affairs to enforce the maximum penalty for hiring foreign teachers in kindergartens. If caught employing foreign teachers in kindergartens the penalty ranges between 150, 000 to 750, 000 Taiwan dollar.

The CLA said that the Employment service law stipulates that only private and public schools can employ foreign professionals.
